I own a 2002 Viggen but it's been modified to Stage 4. It ate it's original transmission when the crush sleeve failed....a common failure to which a revised crush sleeve has been designed and was implemented in late 2002 and 2003. I replaced the transmission with a new 'in the box regular 9.3 trans', which is identical except for the differential (so I installed a Quaife) and the output drivers (reused the existing ones).

I'll try remember all of your questions but I am no expert by any means.

When replacing the clutch it is best to replace the pressure plate, clutch plate, slave cylinder and throw out bearing, as well as the crankshaft rear seal. The Viggen clutch is all you need and works for HP beyond stage 4 with none of the issues of race clutches.

A Quaife limited slip differential (LSD) is an amazing improvement and as many have said, should have been standard on the Viggen. It almost eliminates torque steer and is the best modification to put more HP on the pavement. In my case it has helped immensely with tire wear as I was spinning my wheels, even at highway speeds, without me knowing. I wore out one set of PS2s....not cheap tires! I've never read a bad review as per Erik's of the the Quaife. It is truly amazing in the snow for sure, saves on tires, makes the Viggen much more controllable, more sure footed and faster....it's one of the best mods I've ever made to my car.

The bearing between the transmission's output shaft and the engine's crankshaft is called a pilot bearing. I'm not sure SAABs have one. It may just be a bushing but I don't recall replacing it.

The 'SAAB USA Parts' site has exploded views of all components and parts lists, probably your best source for research and if eEuro doesn't carry it.
