High oil pressure when cold Posted by Bufkin [Email] (#1822) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bufkin) on Wed, 30 Nov 2016 20:36:26 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I installed an oil pressure gauge on my 03 Cvt with a filter adapter.
On start up, the gauge show over 100 psi. Once warmed up, pressure seems normal.
I removed the pressure relief piston, no burrs or sticking.
This engine did have sludge issues about 5 years ago, lower bearings all replace and a Bob Bright pan installed. There is some crap still coming out. I clean the screen ever third oil change and find minor (less than 20%) accumulated crud on the screen.
Could the relief passage be clogged?
Since the relief valve is right at the pump, upstream of the filter, I assume I shouldn't ever see this high of oil pressure????
