Yea, it can get hot, and I noticed my wife's 9-3 SE CV ran cooler w/ the shielding replaced. I read an engineering treatise that said radiators (which really, technically, should be called "convectors" as that's what they do convect heat NOT radiate !) Anyway, they said that radiators should be mounted in a low-pressure air flow area like the REAR of the car! not a HIGH-pressure air flow and area like the front Hmm thought about it and I'm looking for a spare 9-3 trunk lid I can afford to buy and get to AZ to experiment with ! YES ! mount a radiator there w/ a cool looking grill cut into the back of trunk lid Anyone got some engineering ideas, sketches to contribute ? ! should be a fun, satisfying fabrication project and imagine! people will think? a rear engine, Saab ? I reckon the intercooler, A/C condenser, and oil cooler still in front would work better too w/ out that radiator furnace cooking them w/ heat soak! ( A Serious issue here in the AZ Sonoran Desert! ) seen how your radiator gets hot and a/C doesn't work so well at a stoplight in the heat? I bought and never fitted (yet ) a system that sprays water /alcohol on the radiator on demand (uses a remote control button to actuate a windshield washer type pump to spray atomized mixture ) DEI sells a CO2 system that will spray cooling gas on your radiator etc too ! (think dry ice ! ) the usual, stone age, an antediluvian solution is to fit bigger, more electric fans, a bigger radiator eh?
