Had a similar problem on NG900 rear stanchion arm holes Posted by walt [Email] (#2707) [Profile/Gallery] (more from walt) on Sat, 8 Sep 2018 04:04:52 In Reply to: Re: Rearward control arm problem, Russ Lahart, Fri, 7 Sep 2018 13:03:00 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
having become elongated on bottom plate of subframe. Fixed by welding a thick washer onto bottom plate. Then bought a 1 foot piece of 304 stainless steel tube which had 5/8-inch OD and 0.065-inch wall thickness and cut out two pieces that fit between upper and lower plates of subframe without binding when tightened with washer on top side. I also substituted a longer (12x1.5x100mm) rear subframe bolt (see link). This tube eliminates most of knocking from rear stanchion arm bushing, which results from standard bolt sleeves and worn lower subframe plate. Another alternative would be to replace subframe with another used one that does not have oval holes on lower plate. This is more of a problem with high mileage NG900/OG93 cars. Also have the common problem of rear bolt anchor ripping off its factory spot welds and having to cut hole in firewall to put on a new anchor.
