The dealer can calibrate it with the infamous "Tech II" device...
Before you go through that trouble (and they might charge you for it) try this...
The temperature sensor is located just below the front license plate near the lower radiator grille. It's a little "bullet" shaped thing stuck in a hole. Make sure it's CLEAN! Sometimes it falls out of the hole and lands next to the hot radiator... Then the temp sensor reads REALLY HIGH!
Also understand that the sensor can give faulty readings when the car is at a standstill. Why? Because it's near the hot pavement and the hot radiator is only 6 inches back... It needs airflow to get an accurate reading! I've especially noticed that in the summer it will read 10-20 degrees too hot but once the car is moving it settles down to a more accurate temperature.
