check engine light/gas cap question

hi, there,
bought a used 96 Saab 900 SE couple of months ago. Yesterday the gas attendant who filled my gas tank did not close the gas cap tight enough, which I discovered after the infamous check engine light came on today. I assume it will go away after a couple of restarts, correct? If not, dare I take it down to the dealer or just attempt to reset the computer via disconnecting the battery? Is there an issue in allowing too much air into the gas tank that should be of concern? Being a SAAB newbie, I appreciate any suggestions. also, where are there "fault codes" listed for this model Saab?
thanks, Christine
