Installing a K&N air filter... Posted by REM in Seattle [Email] (#4) [Profile/Gallery] (more from REM in Seattle) on Wed, 17 Jan 2001 10:11:05 In Reply to: 95 SET....K&N air filter, John B, Wed, 17 Jan 2001 08:30:14 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Assuming it is a 'drop-in' filter for the stock SAAB airbox, no modification needs to be made. Since the airbox is not perfectly rectangular, and the K&N filter will 'mold' to the shape of the airbox, be sure to mark the K&N filter so it can be installed the same way every time. A simple 'F' for front would be sufficient. Also a small amount of silicone dielectric grease (available at any auto parts store) can be applied to the filter gasket to facilitate filter removal and ensure against gasket leakage.
You may want to increase the airflow to the stock airbox. This can be accomplished by enlarging the airbox inlet tube. Just search this BB for ‘airbox’ to find more information on that procedure.
