Do you ever have regrets?

My latest one is over trading in my '87 900T for a '97 900SET coupe. The '87 had 95K miles, but had been well maintained and was running great. I just had the simple-minded thought that newer must be better: WRONG !
For example, what do I tell my wife when the motorized seat doesn't work? The old seat could always be adjusted manually with little effort. And what GM engineer designed the seat back release? What do you tell friends who want a ride in your 30K+ luxury car and the seat back absolutely refuses to release?(The driver's seat back releases, but only with Herculean effort).Does anyone have a copy of TSB no. 852-1878, which purportedly covers this design snafu? If so, I'd be grateful to see it. Perhaps I could make a fix without driving 135 miles to my dealer. I've owned many a SAAB since 1960, but this may be the last. Too bad, many things like the engine, transmission, brakes, road handling, etc. are excellent, but how can such lousy engineering as the short-lived idler pulleys for the serpentine belt and the non-functioning seat backs ever get put into a SAAB?
