With todays brake pads, cross-drilling the rotors is mainly a show item. I agree they look neat and weigh less; but they are very likely to develop stress cracks(heat), cost more, don't store as much heat as o.e, and eat brake pads.
I have seen track specific cars with slotted rotors. But I have seen many more with stock rotors and brake cooling ducts. The people with cooling ducts never have a problem with overheating their brakes. I plan on replacing the rotors when it is time for new pads and the rotor thickness approaches the minimum spec.
As for brake pads, if you haven't overheated the stock pads then you probably don't need higher performance pads. I found out that I couldn't overheat stock pads on the race track. If you want higher potential performance from your pads ( I upgraded when it was time for new pads), then there are several options.
Hawk HP, HP plus : I am not sure if they have a Saab application
Performance Friction: ditto about Saab applications
Porterfield Brakes: R-4S; dual purpose pad
Brake warehouse: they have many types of pads and rotors for saabs, I don't have their phone number in from of me. But I have had very good service from them.
