I'm experiencing the same thing with my '95 900s.

While having the seat apart to take care of the broken wire on the heated seat, I thought the crumbling seat foam was related to it rubbing against the metal framing.... I cut an old rubber heater hose (length wise) that was laying round and placed it on the sharp metal frame -- the idea was to shield the foam from hitting the sharp metal edges.

I'm still finding the crumbling foam.... I'm not sure anymore if its really coming from the seat bottom.... maybe it's from the seat back.

wish I knew and could prevent it from continuing.

suggestions welcome....
