Hello all,
Just found this board after searching for SAAB info.
Tonight I test drove a SAAB for the first time, a loaded 1998 900S? 4cyl turbo convertible. Desperately need a 2nd car and was looking for something special; cosmetically this car fits the bill. Seen this on a Chebbie dealers used lot and had to stop and look. Very nice, but...
Has 53K miles on, seems a bit much for a 2 - 3 year old car.
Plus, Check Engine light just stayed on or blinked during entire test drive. Sales guy said that they - Chevy - had no clue what to do about it, and so would have to get it to a SAAB dealer to have it looked at.
And, noticed a lot of engine noise, especially when turning wheels in parking lot, thinking CV joints or power steering pump??
You can tell that I am a bit leery here what with the miles and noises, but at $16.5K asking price for a loaded turbo convertible, seems very attractive.
Any obvious things I should look at or be concerned with?
Please advise ASAP, preferably via e-mail, else the wife will drag me off for another Japanese appliance car.
thanks tons in advance!
