Second opinions on...
1. Price. If you look at the advertiser index on this site, you will find a number of dealers that do extensive online business. In my experience they have done a fne job of responding to email requests for information. I might ask one of them: Is this really a good price. (Given the time of year, it might be, it might not.)
Also dealers could perhaps find a 98 model with some remaining factory protection, so remaining items could be fixed by SAAB.
2. Condition. There is also a list of recommended mechanics on the TSN page. This would be a good place to start.
3. Fun. Let me offer that one. I have the 99 version. I love it and it has been reliable. I did have the check engine light come on as I started it up to drive off the dealer's lot. Not when I test drove it, just after I bought it. Spent 30 miles heading home mocked by the idiot light! It was the Oxygen sensor. It was fixed. No problem.
