Yes, I'm aware of the plus-one concept. I've researched this a bit, and the BFG's don't spec out as large as you'd think. I only have Toyo info on hand, but as you can see, they are just a hair wider than the stock Pilots, and essentially the same width as one of the Toyo 205/50's, with a diameter just a hair larger than the 205/50's, but not as large as the 205/55's.
Four tenths of an inch wider than the Pilots is negligible, as is the two to three tenths larger diamter.
Why am I interested in these tires? I had BFG Comp T/A ZR's on my Taurus SHO and was very impressed with them. A bit on the noisy side (large tread blocks), but very, very sticky and reasonably priced. The g-force T/A is a continuation of that line.
The BFG 215/50's spec out as: section width on 6.5" rim - 8.6"
OD - 24.3"
Michelin Pilot 205/50's (? model): section width on 6.5" - 8.2
OD - ?
Toyo Proxes S1 205/50 : sect. width on 6.5" - 8.3"
OD - 24.1"
Proxes RA-1 205/55 : sect width on 6.5" - 8.3"
OD - 24.0"
Proxes FZ4 205/50: sect width on 6.5" - 8.5"
OD - 24.7"
