Here's some more info - I've owned the car 1 month - it was bought from the local Saab Franchise who said that they had serviced it etc - it's a 1994 model and has done 70,000 miles. I'm using standard 95 RON unleaded fuel.

I believe that it is more likely an electronics problem (APC/ECU) because surely if something like the spark plugs were wrong/old, there would be other problems coming to light.

I also think that the reason that I only detect it in 3rd gear is because the car s not accelerating so quickly by the time it is doing 50-60mph.

The next problem is how to convince the dealer that there IS something wrong!

BTW, I traded in a 1988 CDE Turbo auto that had done 140k miles, and IMO outperforms the 900. I'm sure that the 900 should be quicker in every respect than a 'tired' CDE, even allowing for the long gearing on the 900.
