CD wiring troubles (Long, sorry)

Well, after waiting for a decent weekend to spend time installing my new Clarion CD changer, I was all happy, listening to the sounds of Back in Black while cruising the beltway. One week later, a older woman wasn't watching where she was going, and smack into the rear of my car, and leaves a gouge down the drivers side of the car. Insurance took care of the body with out a problem. My problem is the cd player. After the accident, it would go through the motions of recognizing the cd's, but wouldn't play. I called Crutchfield, and did an exchange. Put the new one in, and it did the same thing. Went through the installation with the Crutchfield tech, and everything should be working, but it isn't.
This has lead me and the tech to think something happened to the wiring. The panels were not replaced, but buffed out. Could something from the accident or the fixing do something to the wiring?
Thanks!
