The early new generation (NG) 900's had some common problems, including: leaking main seals in the transmission, windshield washer pump crapping out, and idler pulleys that go to bad. As Ed said, some owners have had problems with water pumps and power steering compressors too. But with 95K on the car these problems have probably already occurred and been fixed. Have any Saab dealer look up the service record on it, and if these early problems have been taken care of then you should have a car that is in for the long haul.
I have a '95 900S with about 93,500 miles on it, and it is running like a champ. No squeaks, rattles, or any mechanical problems. With lots of TLC and routine preventative maintenance I expect to keep it for a long time. That is unless I keep reading saabnet.com and let some of these young hooligans talk me into a turbo yet!
