Mine failed at 74k. I have a 97, 900s, 2.3. I'm not sure about the belt direction on the turbo, but on mine, the top pulley was easily changed after I removed the air breather. Use a socket to help stretch the new belt, or you can have a local saab technician do it for about 1 hr labor. I would change both just to be safe. I was able to purchase my pulleys for $37 a piece--wholesale from the local saab authorized service center. I guess they were meant to be a "wear" item, but I've had and worked with several vehicles with serpentine belts and never heard of the idler pulleys "wearing out."
They are not difficult to change.
