Old style vs. New

I need a new car. My '85 hit 500k and died in the same week. Am considering buying a '94 or later 900 v6 or I-4 (I only buy manual trans and can't find low mileage pre'94's). Have always been pre'94 to the core, but the new style has finally grown on me, since my fiance got a 2001 9-3.
What I want to know is these two things:
1. What primary problems did the '94 900 have going in as a completely new car (including v6 issues if any). What are long term owners with high mileage facing on the new style that we don't face on the pre '94 style cars.
2. What improvements were made (other than subtle body skin changes) over the '94 to '01 timeframe.
Please respond directly to me as well if possible (browser is going nuts recently). bmauri1203@cs.com
THANK YOU EVERYONE! I REALLY APPRECIATE IT!
