I'm a recent driver of the '94 900 Turbo Coupe. My sister had a '97 900S before it was totalled in an accident =(. What her car had most noticeably was a handle in the boot hatch/lid (not sure what to call it) - whereas mine does not. You just sorta release the boot and lift up the hatch. I've never had occasion to own a Saab other than the NG900, so I can't really put it up against the old designs. The quirks/problems I've had with mine so far are:
(a) takes too long warm up the interior when compared to my dad's tempo (b) rear windows have an annoying habit of fogging over in winter even though the car is nice and toasty inside
(c) pistons opening the hatchback are useless - if it gets cold they can't support their own weight (looking to get new ones, maybe that is the problem) - my sister's 900S never had that problem (d) that silver trim piece that wraps around the bumper is bloody weak: I accidentally (very lightly) scraped up against some hardened snow when I got home, I found the whole thing had sheared off
(e) push button thing (not sure of technical term) on handbrake sometimes disappears into its recess forcing me to stick my finger in the handbrake to release it - after a few goes at the handbrake, it usually comes out to its proper position.
(f) no cupholders - glove compartment door has these circular recesses which can sort of act as half-assed holders for 350mL popcans, nothing else.
Otherwise the car is brilliant. =D
