The idler pulley is on the left side of the engine (facing the front of the car)near the back. I believe it's grooved. It's one of the pulleys that the serpentine belt rides on. I just had to replace the idler, tensioner, and sepentine. Cost $200. Actually wasn't too bad. Mine gave absolutely no warning of failure. Only a large "clunk" and then a hellatious screech. I was told that I should have replaced it long ago. I have a 95 900 SETC with 80k. Hope that helps...good luck. (It is recommended that they be replaced at 40k from waht I read on here.)
