Hi Bob,
I have a '94 900s auto also, with 135,000. I have had the stalling a few times in the cold weather. After one or two re-starts, mine goes away. This also happens sometimes when I start it in the morning. I am pretty sure mine is the neutral safety switch. I think the bogging down you felt before the stalling is the car going into third or in my case even trying to start out in third. All these are the symptoms of a neutral saftey switch ready to be replaced. I hear the part alone is $300. The good thing is that I have seen some postings on this site that the neutral safety switch can be adjusted sometimes, but at the age of our cars, a replacement might be best. Good luck. kk
(I think the bogging down is something called "limp mode" or some folks think it is the car going into winter mode, again all these are characteristics, from what I can see, of the neutral safety switch. I have not seen on this site that anyone replaced it themselves.)
