I figured that I could save some cash if I ordered the parts myself, but unfortunatley I have to drive down to North Carolina (from NY) in a few days, so I don't really have the time to take the car to a shop, have them do an estimate, say "Thanks," go home, order the parts, wait, make appt at shop, bring the stuff in for installation. If I had realized that they marked up the price 45 bucks a rotor, then I may have thought differently, but at the time, that was the situation I was in. Live and learn.
The last time I did pads and rotors was on my old Ford Taurus, and it was around 550, so when he said that w/o tax it would be around 650, I assumed that the "Saab Parts" were just more expensive. Guess so :)
As far as the "Flat Rate" issue...could you explain what that means? Is there some sort of book that says "This job will take 3 hrs" and then they just charge that? I am trying to feel this shop out and see if they can be trusted with my future business, hopefully they aren't taking advantage of a "college kid."
Thanks,
Brian.
