Could be a bad lifter. This would cause a burnt valve it the valve was not on it's seat long enough during the combustion cycle (valve too tight). These valve lifters(or followers as sometimes called)can pump up too much and cause the condition you discribe. If the valve was set up wrong at the factory this could also cause the problem. The only adjustment the valve has is with a simple "go, no go" gauge. If the valve is too tight, they simply grind the tip of the valve stem to get the proper clearence. If the injector was bad, it would cause a mis fire (if your car is a 96 or later and set a misfire code )and turn the mil (check engine light) on. However, the computer can compensate for dirty injectors up to 50%(lean condition). The only way to know for sure is to have the dealer perform an injector flow test. The dealer will place the injector in a graduated cylinder, run the fuel pump, energize the injector and measure the amount of fuel obtained in 30 seconds. Then, they will compare that with the specification in the shop manual. Thats the only way to tell. This can be cured by cleaning the injector with a flush kit that the dealer may have. A totaly bad injector (electrically) would not cause burnt valves because the combustion chamber would never get hot enough to cause any damage.
