If you had a battery charger, you might be able to drive the vehicle to where you get the battery. Many places offer free installation, and that takes care of the old battery too.
If the battery did take a charge, you would then have to suspect the charging system.
If the battery is old, after these deep discharges, it is certainly toast, so it needs to go in any case.
When you get the new battery installed. You could check the volts while the the engine is running, and be comfortable that the charging system is doing its job.
The battery shop will take your old battery for proper recycling.
What is the electrolyte level in the old battery?
Also check that the light in the trunk is not set to be on. That has occurred several times on this BB.
No special tools. You may need to clean the old terminals connectors to remove oxide. Fine sandpaper, or steel wool would be fine.
