Am getting really annoyed by the same thing on my '97 900; Almost sounds like the transmission is running out of lube (5 spd.) or the wheel bearings are dry. Starts at 20 MPH and goes right through 50, where other noises like air/road noise make it less noticeable.
The Saab dealer service advisor asked whether it was groaning, if so it's wheel bearings. I just replaced the Michelin RainForce MX4 M+S on the front about 3 months ago with Yokahama Avid Touring P195/60R15 87S.
Not affected by steering, gear, coast or power; still the same. By the way does anyone know how to check the gearbox lube level?
