Any hint of sludge should be checked out. The oil strainer is quite small on the 2002 9-5 engine (not sure about other years and models) and the sludge can build up and block the strainer causing oil supply problem and potentially low oil pressure. Expensive repairs are on the cards if sludge is not removed. I recommend you have a mechanic drop the sump and check the quantity of sludge present and also follow recommended oil change intervals and make sure the correct grade of oil is used at, and in between, oil changes. This is not a problem to be ignored. Likewise if the low oil pressure warning light comes on this must be checked out immediately. Moral of the story is that this is model is not a car which will forgive forgotten oil changes or the wrong type of oil.
