Yeah, this one was too thoughtful for me. That or I just didn't get it or it meandered too much or something... I'm hard case. My wife finished reading The Final Solution and I had run out of books so I asked her if I would like it and she said, "I really don't know." Not the kind of pass off you look for , but I read it anyway and if she didn't know that I'd like THAT book (my god, great writing plus an African Grey Parrot as one of the main characters!!??) then I'm a hopeless cause... My wife is slowly reading all the Pullitzer Prize winners and I tried both Theophilus North and Empire Falls and really didn't get much out of either of those, so I avoid Pullitzer books by default. Here are some I liked and disliked.
