Total Body Respray Posted by DnstrDan [Email] (#1361) [Profile/Gallery] (more from DnstrDan) on Sat, 4 Feb 2017 14:13:28 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Does anyone have any recent experience or lessons-learned with having a total body respray done on their car? I am not interested in changing the factory paint color and am willing to pull / reinstall trim to lower the labor costs. BTW, doing nothing is an option but I am tired of looking at a crappy finish on a beautiful car I intend to keep for a while.
My '99 9-5 - while rust-free as befits a California car - has a pronounced case of clear coat deterioration on top, coupled with 18 years of chips, nicks and scratches. The paint on the rear bumper is severely spider-cracked (it was repainted once, apparently with non-elastic paint).
Aside from its cost, my choice would be to commission a two-stage Dupont Imron paint job for superior resistance to chipping and color retention. Are there other quality alternatives?
Finally, a recommendation for black bumper strip paint with requisite impact resistance would be appreciated.
