Even north of Portland. High budget towns, such as Camden, Mount Desert, Bar Harbor has police forces who's staff often exceeds the needs of the towns. They are everywhere! You can't travel 15 minutes on Mount Desert Island without seeing one sitting. To their credit, they are pretty reasonable if you are pulled over. Once they determine that you have not been drinking they are pretty good about speed warnings.
