I've said essentially the same thing on this board on occassion. The current TajMahal model of car dealerships is an very heavy financial burden but, "that's what everybody else does." A big part of why most dealer service departments are such a pack of wiesels is they have such high "nut." You sure can't do it selling cars at $100 over invoice. Back in the seventies when import brands were just getting there started, most dealerships were pretty modest. People expect big fancy buildings, but what they don't think about is that they are paying for them one way or another. I'd love to see Saab extent their "differentness" to their dealerships, do something understated but elegant, something "Swedish."
