Just register a domain i.e. myfamily.com, then purchase basic web hosting from a firm like hostgator for about $5/month. For $70 total/year you will have email at an address that never has to change and no one will be doing what the others do.

Note that Google is now assembling profiles of people by looking at their email, you tube searches, and web searches as well as info from their pay per click type services. Scary stuff.
