Ladies and gentlemen:

This is my first occasion on the site. Thank you for the opportunity.

I take responsibility for the intense and interesting back an forth regarding my SAI pump situation.

First, I must say, it is quite easy for a dialogue to go one way or another in forming opinions when the person affected is not present. I have been busy and did not know of this site until my friend David informed me of its existence and suggested that I may want to 'chime in'.

Here is my presentation of the experience.

I must say that the story that 'Chadwick' has presented conveniently leaves out certain points. Whether they make a difference in forming opinion is for you to consider. I will present my side and let you all accept, disagree or ponder.

The comment(s) Chadwick makes regarding my phone call (post realization of price & availability) to him are quite inaccurate and spun to serve his purpose.

I did not get angry, raise my voice or call him any of the 'names' he so disingenuously accuses me of. I did not call him a 'scammer', liar, cheater, etc. I initiated our phone conversation by saying that I felt the price charged was excessive. I also stated that I understand, from a business perspective, that I had no desire to cause him loss. I asked if he would consider re-evaluating the price more closely with that which was being charged by others. I mentioned that I discovered the matter only after my order with Chad on Monday as I was trying to locate the check valve and gasket for this project. He immediately stated that this was our understanding and he had no willingness to reconsider.

I reminded him that I took his word and trusted him in informing me that the part was 'difficult to find' and that he had '5 others' he had just sold to. It was after this dialogue that I asked that, if this was such a commodity, may I ship it back FedEx overnight at my own expense for a refund. He said no... 'the sale is final... no refunds'.

I again asked that he reconsider (no raising of voice or the names he falsely accuses me of doing) by finding a fair medium considering the 'real' and existing circumstances. It was a this point he again said, 'sorry man you own this part', and hung up on me.

Please try to keep in mind that I predicated my purchase and the need to execute the purchase on his comments. I trusted that the person I was speaking as an authority on SAAB as his website depicts. The expectation I had was that I was dealing with an entity that is reasonable, fair, and knowledgeable.

As Chadwick is a Saab expert I took his word. Call me stupid or naive. However, it certainly was not my expectation to be paying so much more for something that was available and priced for much less.

Yes, absolutely, how one interprets reasonable and fair is predicated upon our own individual codes of ethics.

Another point of information: I had not heard from him Monday regarding order confirmation and shipping tracking number. This was something I had to call him back after his hang up to ascertain. He had stated, after taking the order, that he would send it out that day and he would send me a tracking number. He did not. I had also mentioned to him that I needed the part by Wednesday and if there was any way he could have it delivered next day overnight I would request that. He mentioned that would be very expensive for him. He stated the method he was using would have it here by Wednesday.

Anyway, I had not heard from him Monday (as he stated) regarding order confirmation and shipping tracking number. This was another matter on Tuesday that I had to call him back for after his initial hang up to ascertain.

Today is Wednesday and the part is not here. I found he was using UPS land and that the part was actually dropped off after pickup time on Monday and therefore was not actually picked up by UPS until Tuesday after 6:00 PM. Again this was not our deal. Wednesday delivery was our deal. It is scheduled to arrive by day end Thursday.

It is after his unwillingness to consider a reasonable price, his dramatic hang-up, that I stated that I would warn others of the way he has dealt with me. My comments state just the facts that I encountered. It is not an indictment of his skill as a mechanic. It is simply my experience on this issue. Others have a right to read how I was dealt with just as they have a right to read of his SAAB acumen and mechanical skills.

Thank you 'Snowmobile' for your comment regarding this blog. In all humility, although I am not Internet illiterate, I must say honestly, I was not aware of such blogs as I'm not a blogger. I see now that this would have been an awesome resource for information and I will keep this in mind for future dialogue. It is quite likely that collectively you all may just have steered me out of trouble...or at least provided a lot of help as to how to resolve this SAI issue.

As I must leave town for business on Friday, once I realized that the part would not be here when promised, I purchased a SAI pump from SAAB yesterday to have my car repaired.

One more thing: I thank my friend David whom I consider one the fairest, reasonable, and ethical people I have ever met. He is also a true SAAB enthusiast and advocate. I purchased my SAAB for my daughter for its safety based on David's advice and experience. He was right! Thanks to David and the love of this machine I too have become a 'SAAB-aholic'!

Thank you to all who have 'chimed in' on this specific discussion. I appreciate your time to read this view of my side of the story.

I am open to thoughts and suggestions.

Respectfully,

Anil
