Your only indication that the SAI pump was a scarce item was Chad telling you it was scarce?

It wasn't that your car had been sitting on some garage's lift because they couldn't find the part? It wasn't cause you told Dave and his response was to try and find one on a bunch of Saab message boards? You didn't have any inkling that this might be a hard to find part at all before Chad told you? I call bullshit.

If your only argument was that you took Chad on his word that the part was scarce, than you should lay equal blame on the garage that told you they couldn't find one, sending you to look Chad's way the first place. Try asking them to make up the difference and don't be offended when they laugh you out of the shop.
