Why do they do that with the spare? It saves weight and space, but spares or run flats are mileage limited unlike a full-size spare. I've used the full-size I carry in the 9-5. The spare area is impact absorbing so it is not entirely wasted. No wonder so many buy SUVs aside from the space.
