but they differ in ADC circuits and algorithms (and even light path design in a case of the A55).

although I'm no way a flash guy (out of 20K+ shots off my K-5 there are less then 50 shot with flash; and I didn't use flash back to the days of ist DS mammoth), I think I feel your pain. They say that Canon system features the best flash design and integration.
