I'm currently on a plan with T-Mobile that does not include subsidized phones and the monthly rate is lower than the equivalent with a phone - work out the savings over 24 months. I live in an area with a large student population (high volume data users) and the cellular carriers are constantly retuning their systems; what was fabulous coverage last week can turn non-existent overnight, so I need to be able to switch carriers when I need to without an onerous penalty.
