My niece's sister-in-law is a pilot for the Air Force and flys the Hercules and some other huge transport plane (C-17?) back and forth from the Mid East. All of maybe 27 years old.

I was at an air show in NY years ago and got to walk through a B-17 and a B-25; it was all aluminum spars and framework covered by an aluminum skin not much thicker than used in beer cans. I could not imagine flying in an heated, unpressurized plane at 20,000+ feet and doing my job. Hats off to those guys....
