Bought one about a year ago, should have got it years ago. It's bigger, heavier, slower, and clumsier than floor jacks. With it a car can be raised level and much higher than with jacks, and it is out of the way for almost all under car work, plus it does not need jack stands. It would be nice if it had a built in motor instead of using an electric drill. It is pricy, although it is more complex than it appears, ask for a discount.
Due to space limits and for easier handling, I do not use it as intended. Instead use both sides independently, which makes it easier to move around and place under the car. Down side to having separate sides, is going back and forth with the drill to raise and lower more or less evenly. In the end it is more work raising the car, but having the car high, level, and with clear space under it makes it much easier to work on.
For cars with pinch weld flanges I made some rubber guards from 1 1/2" diameter heavy wall sand blast hose cut into ~ 4" long pieces and slit length wise. The flange fits into the slit to protect it from damage, plus the hose has a more non-slip surface. Had to widen the slit and chamfer the corners so the hose would readily fit onto a flange. Hose came from McMaster Carr, industrial or hydraulic supply houses should have it.
