OT: Hydronic Baseboard Alternatives? Posted by B Millar [Email] (#1109) [Profile/Gallery] (more from B Millar) on Tue, 23 Dec 2014 09:00:01 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My house was built in 1956. It has a hydronic heating system with those radiator/convectors that are half built-into the wall, about knee high. These are all fine and dandy, except when they're installed right next to the toilet. Rust city!
I'm in the beginnings of a bathroom renovation on the second floor; it's almost totally gutted now. I had discussed with my contractor replacing the old-school convector with a traditional baseboard heater and he said that would be fine, but it doesn't really help the rust situation. I don't think radiant floor heat is feasible without a new (cooler) heating circuit from the boiler, which would be too costly.
I came across this radiant panel product that looks cool. It's at least easy to clean. And I think it's just plug and play? Does anyone have experience with this kind of product, or have any other suggestions? It's a tiny bathroom so really the only place for heat is along the outside wall by the toilet.
Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays and all that junk!
