What type was it? The old Merc coolant was G05 (and coloured kid of a "golden" shade, em resembling urine really). My understanding was that this was fairly compatible with G48... but I could be wrong! Dexcool otoh would definitely be something to flush out, and coming from a GM era car, it could have had it... but that is more orange, but the colour could be potentially be confused with G05 depending on dilution... if it's more greenish chartreuse than yellowish chartreuse... maybe it's the generic green crap... that stuff is pretty green though...
Never hurts to flush it out first with water though...
Townsend has a coolant flush page that will come up through google. Good time to change tstat, hoses, etc... anything else in the cooling system that is aged...
