In an interview with CvK, he said that the reason the deal fell through for Koenigsegg was simply that GM was dragging it out so long and that for success, they had a short time window to execute (eg talent gets frustrated with job insecurity and walks, debts become insurmountable if there are operating costs and you are selling nothing, etc etc)... GM just dragged their heels and did all they could to make it non-viable. Or so he said anyway... I'm sure GM execs would have a different view, so it depends who you believe (I find it hard to put much value in GM's opinions though)...
wrt Peugeot, Opel, and Saab coming to USA... sounds unlikely... remember how the ng900 was viewed negatively because it was built on an Opel platform? I find it hard to believe it would be better if an Opel was rebranded as SAAB for the US market today vs one that was actually a completely different car (just on the same platform) designed by SAAB engineers... would have as much luck selling them as Opel I would think at this point!
