All vehicle renewals expire on the primary owner's birthday so I had to pony up over $510 on Thursday to register our three Saabs! My birthday is not till the middle of next month but why wait for the inevitable.
Michigan registration fees jumped 20% this year so the State will have additional funds to repair the roads destroyed by Semi Trucks with no load limits. Well, actually there is a load limit of sorts. Michigan's per axle load limit is the same as many other states but Michigan has no limit on the number of axles under the truck. Double Bottom Gravel Trains and Steel Haulers with every inch of undercarriage space filled by wheels!
Lots of cars in Michigan with Florida plates. I always assumed it was due to the Snow Birds who relocate to Florida for half the year, and maybe their children/grandchildren who use the FL address for registration purposes.
Michigan charges 6% Sales Tax on car purchase, both new and used, both Dealer Sales and Private Sales, whereas Florida charges zero - another reason Snow Birds buy and register in Florida.
