well, there were are more manufacturers for airbags in Saabs than Takata (eg my 9-3 Viggen was not affected) so other manufacturers may pick up the slack. my wife's Honda passenger side was recalled replaced by the dealer but not the driver's side ! ( i always feel nervous repairing it tho!) Recently, I had to R&R the cruise control switch on the steering wheel which necessitated removing, reinstalling the Takata airbag! I'll admit I went overboard, overcautious and yes, disconnecting the battery is supposed to render it safe but what about static electricity? People did DIE from these! So, I gussied up like a bomb disposal technician! Wore one of my full face M/C helmets w/ a face shield and safety glasses and a thick pieces of wood as a chest protector! it's a weird sensation doing mechanical, electrical repairs w/ essentially a live Takata Japanese hand grenade inches away! creepy !
