I drive past the Volvo dealership every day, anyhow.

The last new car I bought was my first Saab - a 1982 900. The small local dealership literally had no 900s in stock, so there wasn't any kind of sales pitch or pressure at all. I put down a deposit and told them to find me a car, which took about a month.

All of our vehicles after that have been Saabs, either used and spotted by salesmen I knew and trusted (those were the days...), or Saabs with remaining warranty, CPOs, and the last one, just used.

It would take some kind of design and/or engineering miracle to convince me to purchase any kind of "new" vehicle, so a salesman could pretty much try any tactic he liked, and it wouldn't do him much good.
