We (my son and I) took the Outback, not the Saab, as we could sleep in it overnight. We drove 3.5 hours to western Wyoming, near Jackson and got about 1.5 minutes of totality. The drive back was 6 hours. I have to say that totality is so vastly different from partial that I felt it was completely worth the trip. Totality is eerie and spectacular.
The 2024 total eclipse will be in April, so there'll be the potential issue of cloud cover over much of its path through the US. I'm planning to go to southwest Texas for that one.
