PayPal / Home Depot Phishing Scam Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Wed, 6 Sep 2017 03:13:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
We received an email saying our PayPal transaction had been approved. We haven't used the account in nearly a month! Clicked on the details and we saw that $1,744 of Window Blinds were en route to a Home Depot in Helena, MT for our pick-up, ordered September 3rd.
My wife clicked on the "Cancel Transaction' button or similar name, then received a warning that the next web page to be displayed, allegedly Home Depot's Order Cancel Site, was reported to be unsafe. So we stopped.
I went to the PayPal site, our Account summary, and saw no transactions. Whew!
Clearly a Phishing Scam to trick you into inadvertently providing sensitive personal information while you are attempting to cancel an order that was never placed.
Be forewarned!
