Okay to replace brake pads on new rotors after 1 or 2 months? Posted by bender [Email] (#268) [Profile/Gallery] (more from bender) on Sat, 16 Sep 2017 07:36:49 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My mother's 9-3 went to the shop for a brake job and the mechanic did a full job with the exception of the front brake pads. (i.e. new rotors and pads in the back and only new rotors in the front). I did not like this and wanted to pads in the front with new rotors.
I happen to have a set of new brake pads that should work fine and I'm thinking of replacing them myself because they want to charge to do this. However, it'll be in about 1.5 months. Would it be okay to keep driving with these pads for this amount of time, have them bed into the new rotors and then change them in 1.5 months, or to have this done asap at a shop? If the time period is not all that important, I'd rather wait and do it myself. But if this time period (really, it's about mileage...the car isn't drive all that much, mainly highway miles) is enough to affect the bedding with the new pads, then we'll have it taken to a shop.
Thoughts?
