Well should it fail I'll likely not replace it with a GE, however I buy basic and inexpensive appliances that I can fix myself - so washer and dryers have dials, no steam cycle and so on. I hear from friends who buy the high end stuff with bells and whistles about the repair costs - which drives a growing number of people to buy extended warranties. One friend has a $2k Samsung refrig that 5 service trips by the warranty company to fix the ice maker all failed, so he gets a check to buy another refrigerator.
