The "bricking" scenario comes into play if and when someone tries to do an SPS software update of the different modules without taking all the safety precautions.
This goes for the first generation 9-3/9-5 and up.
I tell my customers that it is like open heart surgery from when you push the go button until the last confirmation file is loaded at the end.
Anything and everything that happens during the "load" most likely results in bricking the ECU.
This could be the car battery going dead, the Tech 2 getting unplugged from the OBD port or your laptop battery going dead if you forgot to plug in the wall charger.
And then you have the slight chance of a bug in the software or your Tech 2.
Regular coding and programming is not vulnerable in that way but with more and more people buying their own cloned Tech 2 and that it comes with some versions of SPS program discs it could create problems if not careful.
