The thing to watch with the CV joints is the internal lubricant. They sit right above the cats and get hot. It thins the grease and it drips out slowly drop by drop. The cats burn it off so you don't notice the leak. Pretty soon it's all gone. If you notice a hot oil smell but can't find a leak that probably what it is. Or you can check the tops of the cats and look for evidence burnt grease.
